Did this weekend go as well as the openner?
« on: October 23, 2011, 03:47:31 PM »
It sounded a lot quieter this weekend due to last.  Must have been the low tides in the morning.  How did everyone do?

Had a great snow goose hunt last Sunday with my son and 12 year old grandson. We went out again this morning and had another just as good. This time I got some video. Going to try to post it later if I can figure out how!!

We weren't out on the coast but in Eastern Washington we saw a decent amount of birds but not many that gave us a look. We scratched out four total.

saturday: 3 hours.. Perfect wind, direction, little bit of rain cloudy 2 birds, not decoyed flew by.

Today: decoyed on mallard, and it landed 30 yards behind my spread  :dunno:.

Very very slow weekend for me also, talked to a couple guys, one did just as bad as my, another guy did quit well. good weather but no ducks for me  :dunno:

My little club in Sequim this week end was better for me over the opener. I ended up with a hen and drake smiling mallards, an in-mature mallard drake, a speckle belly, two cacklers and a honker.

Not quite as good, but nothing to complain about. Opening weekend: 2 guns to limits of mallards on saturday in about 45 mins. Sunday: 2 guns 2 limits in about an hour, mallards and 2 pintail (2 mallards were banded). Last weekend: 2 guns 2 limits of mallards and 1 pintail, stayed until noon to get them though. Yesterday: 2 guns 2 limits in about 50 minutes, a few mallards, a couple gaddies, and the rest wigeon.

haha thanks guys but I really dont deserve any credit, I just tag along for the most part with my buddy, Im just a deoy packer/shooter  :chuckle:. But it has been lights out these first two weekends, best We've ever seen it (knock on wood). And every duck we've killed has been over the decoys, except when I went in the afternoon on wednesday and got my limit jump shooting.

Just a bunch of Snow Geese again. I think I will pass on ducks until the the northerns get in. Time to whack Snows at an unbelievable rate. My son sent me a picture of a banded Teal this morning he got. I'm not sure where he got it. He said to quit passing them up.

Depends on where the birds are, so yes and no.

Saturday morning ended up with 6 birds by 10:00 or so, had a 7th that I couldn't retrieve. Counted it towards my limit and packed up. Great day. 4 Mallards (one not retrieved  :bash:), 2 pins, and a GWT.
Everyone shoots three times per bird, right?

:chuckle:We shoot two limits it was nice with less shooting. Birds seemed to work better which made shooting all the better.
