Silver Dollar Elk Hunt
« on: August 22, 2011, 04:12:31 PM »
My son was drawn for this hunt this year. Pretty cool as the season is from Aug. 1 to March 31. Have any of you hunted this, and if so, what can we expect? I haven't heard from the Ranch yet, but was trying to get a sense if they call everyone w/ tags or not, and what will the hunt be like. Guided or pointed in a general direction etc.

Thanks-

I would say you had better make the first call.  From what I know of the area be prepared to put the time in as these elk are nomadic and may hang on a particular ranch for a few days and not pass back thru for a couple of weeks.  If you miss that window, the calendar can go by.  I would get out there and get it figured out - the sooner the better.

The way the natives are thinning out the big ones, you might want to light a fire. :dunno:

have you had a chance to hunt? if so how did it go. I have a young friend and a nephew that I have been putting in for that hunt and would like to talk with someone who has been drawn for this hunt.
