which bird
« on: October 24, 2011, 11:44:03 AM »
I am going to get a another Bird mount done this year, and have listed the birds I see where I hunt.  If you want to add a pic of your bird mounts as well that would be great   Thanks for reading and voting on the post :IBCOOL:

You forgot a bird that is on this side in limited numbers.  Canvasback...  I took one down this last season and did a mount.

Snohomish County is where it was taken.  I know of two that were taken on Samish Bay this last weekend.  They are here, just in limited numbers.

I saw two of them in a creek when I was bear hunting last year.  Besides that only pics, and drawings.  Are they more common on the dry side, or other areas of the northwest?

Theres so many there it would be hard to choose one for me. I think it really depends on what the condition of the bird that you want to have mounted. I personally think a big drake widgeon is about the prettiest duck there is, I would really like a drake widgeon and a drake pintail in a deadmount together. Of course it would be really hard to not mount a can if i shot one, but if its a young one or a hen I'd just eat (they're supposed to be great)

can you throw a wood duck option up there, thats what i would like to get mounted, my son got a awesome male for his first duck, we put it in the freezerinside of a nylon and wrapped it in a tshirt, we wanted to get another male to go with it and are piece of crap garage freezer went south and i didnt notice it until everything was ruined i took it to fred peters anyways and he confirmed that it was wasted, he asked to keep it which was fine he was able to use the feathers for somethn, but still it wasnt one of my prouder moments
my grandpa always said "if it aint broke dont fix it"

I have a pretty cool sprig mount on my wall. I think I posted pictures of it somewhere on here. I also have a bull canvasback in the freezer that I have yet to mount but should probably get it in soon.
