Quilomene Unit Quality Buck Hunt?
« on: October 24, 2011, 01:44:58 PM »
Hello all! I was fortunate enough to draw a quality buck archery tag in unit 329 that starts on Nov. 23rd. I have never hunted this are before and was wondering if anyone would lend a few tips or areas to start. I am going in the weekend before to do some glassing and scouting and hopefully come out with a plan for my Nov. 23rd start date. Any good advice would be great!
Thank you

go to the wind farm and get a hunting pass. We saw a big 4x4 in  there last night!  Lots of deer hang out in there.

Can you get the pass online or do you need to purchase at site? What is the name of this wnf farm?

You have never been to or hunted this unit? What kind of 4x4 vehicle do you have??
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

You have to go get the pass in person and watch a video, the pass is only good for certain times of the year. My pass is only good April 1 through Nov 30. And the pass is Free. The place is the WILD HORSE WIND FACILITY if go you travel east on the old vantage HWY from kittitas you cant miss it. Just look for the wind mill's.

Hunt the pocket of timber at the top of the Quilomene, on the edge of Parke Creek. Often times the elk hunters with horses will leave some hay, and it becomes a deer magnet duringthe late season rut. I had the rifle tag several years ago, saw 50 bucks, but didn't fill tag, holding out for a big boy. A ground blind near the hay pile would be ideal. I would see up to 35 deer come into the hay in the evenings.
