sons first deer
« on: October 25, 2011, 10:21:16 AM »
anthony shot this doe saturday at about 6pm, we had been seeing her for a couple nights but couldn't get a shot off cause it was to dark.  FINALLY we put a last ditch effort and started pulling a sneaky ninja over the hill back towards the canyon that i thought she was coming over.  we spotted her at about 500 yards, so i showed anthony how to put a sneak on a deer without spooking them, and we got to about 165 yards away from her before she finally spotted us.  anthony was all jacked up and shacking.  it was great.  he put his scope on her and we made sure it was a white tail.  and so i got down and scoping her and i told anthony when he got her dialed in to take his shot.  so he told me dad im ready, and i told him to sqeeze it off and i watched and she dropped right where she was standing eating as soon as anthony pulled the trigger.  anthony jumped up and was yelling and freaking out.  so we got down to her and she was toast.  so we field dressed her and anthony was like ok dad, lets get the four wheeler outta the truck and i was like nope, i never had one i always had to drag so this being your first one your draggin.  so we slinged our rifles and after a little complaining from anthony we started our drag up the side of the hill and towards the truck.  he was on cloud 9 the whole time.  it was the greatest thing ever, i didn't get my buck cause we put alot of effort into finding a white tail doe but to see anthony so happy after getting his first deer it was worth it.  so then the whole ride home (35 mins) anthony was like dad, im a sniper, like a ninja sniper.  next year im gonna shoot a deer at like a 1000 yards.  LOL

awesome story, nothing like getting them started young.  How old is he?
