worth it or not?
« on: October 25, 2011, 10:36:21 AM »
have a 4 year old black lab he is well behaved, other than when it comes to hunting he still has problems. like consistent retrieving and sit, stay for long periods, i mainly hunt ducks and upland, i was just wondering if it would be worth it to spend the money for a trainer. I will be gone for another few months from work starting next week and thought it would be a good time. Any info helps.

If you dont have the time to do it your self, send him off to a trainer.

Is he trainable  :dunno: that will be between you and a rainer to decide  ;)

Older dogs may be a little more difficult to train but that doesn't mean it can't be done. I think the first question would be how "birdy" he is or what kind of desire he has to hunt. If it seems like more a chore then something he enjoys then he might be a tough candidate. I would figure that out first and go from there.
