Fair Price for 870 Youth?
« on: October 25, 2011, 06:04:07 PM »
My co worker has a very nice little 870 Express Magnum youth 20 ga... it is in excellent to mint condition... any one got a good ball park price for something like this? I had my daughter handle it tonight and she really likes the feel of it!

Thanks

I think they are around 370-380 new. Bought my nephew one a year ago. I picked up a really nice mossberg 500 youth 20 about 6 months ago for 150. I would say they are comparable shotguns. 200-225 maybe if its really nice and you both get a good deal.

I paid $200 brand new for one at Walmart 2 years ago if that helps. Came with 3 chokes. Great little gun!
I'd rather have a bow in my hand then this keyboard!

Never seen them for 200. Great buy if you can get it for that.

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the youth and the regular, besides the size of the butt stock? If I buy a youth, as she grows, can I just buy a regular sized stock and put on there?

I think I can get this gun, like new, for probably $200... but haven't got confirmation quite yet that he wants to sell it. Grown kids are squawking a bit about it!  :chuckle:

You can get full size stocks for them, but it's probably cheaper just to buy another full sized used shotgun in my opinion. Someone will always buy a used youth model if you no longer want it.

The barrel is 21" and the butt stock is a little shorter. I have a youth model that was supposed to be for my son (he's 3) but I think I'm going to buy another one for him as I like this gun to much even with the short butt stock and barrel. A lot of guys are turning these little guns into turkey guns with very good results shooting heavier then lead stuff. You can buy a longer stock and barrel for the youth model.

I just bought one about a month ago used from DJ's in Bothell. He gave it to me for $175 inlcuding tax. It was used but barely, I mean barely, no obvious signs of wear or damage. FC thinks it was never shot before or that much. Only came with one flush mod choke tube but he gave us a nice hard sided case with it too. And I just found Remington 20ga Extended choke tubes in modified brand spanking new in the wrapper for $5.18  :yike:  (8.17 with shipping) at gunbarrelsupply.com! Great deal!

I'll try and get it for 150... I didn't realize it was possible to interchange chokes on, or maybe this one isn't, I'll have to look!
