My 8 year old sons first blacktail. He hunted his but off for this buck and I couldn't be prouder.
I'll write up a story tomorrow night.

That's a dandy buck, and an even better first buck. I hope your little guy is still walking on clouds...especially at school around his buddies. One of my students showed me the picture of his first buck killed this last weekend, and it was really cool to see him talk about it. Looking forward to the story. Give your kid a high five.

Just something about those antlers that grow more flat then turn 90* that makes them just killer looking instead of the more "V" shape.
I like it a lot !!!
I'll be getting my soon to be 8yo into hunters ed as soon as the next class opens up and if he gets his first buck that is half of that one I'll be extatic, Nice work young man, way to go !!!
