Don't know if this is relevant, I downloaded Internet Explorer 10 this morning and have yet to have an issue, yesterday I had problems all day.   :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Please keep me posted on this, we are still struggling to identify the real problem.

Been on here all day, not had a problem ones!!

I have recieved numerous error messages and been unable to get on many times, you have not had any trouble?

No Dale, I have been on all day, posting and reading, refreshing the pages and have not had one issue since I downloaded Explorer 10 this morning.  Yesterday I had issues all day and still have some issues on my phone today but zero issue from my PC.

Maybe someone else with Internet Explorer 10 can post their experience, problems or no problems???  Or download it, its free and only takes about 10 minutes, pending your download speed.

We just made a small change in the backend and will be making more changes today, let me know if anyone gets another error message?

For 14 minutes since my above post, I was in timeout repeatedly, if that helps.
So that was for 13 minutes since you made your post.  :(

I merged all the forum problem topics together so everyone gets this answer.

I have been receiving log emails every time the forum has had a problem the last few weeks? There have been many error messages each day. About 7pm yesterday the server host figured out that during a cPanel update a stats program called "Analog" was enabled, which was eating up the memory. This is why I received all of the emails about *stats*.

This program has been disabled on the core of the unit, and the memory usage, CPU load, and memory swap all immediately dropped. Even with the traffic experienced yesterday evening we maintained around 50% of memory usage which is great. However, forum load times were slightly below what is ideal, so we looked into increasing SMF's performance.

We increased the post count on displayed topic pages to 20 rather than 15 as it used to be set and I increased the number of topics displayed on forum board pages to 50 rather than 25 as I think it was set. These actions reduce the number of queries made on the server during busy times.

We also optimized avatar settings, so some members who had oversized avatars may need to reload avatars if your previous avatar was larger than 120 x 120. Members who have not logged in for 90 days or longer will also have to reload avatars. By removing inactive avatars we optimized load times on all the older and larger topics, this reduces overall server load.

We made a few other small tweaks and it was recommended that we prune the largest topics which have over 1000 replies, but there are less than 10 topics that large so we didn't do this. It was also recommended that reducing the number of boards can speed the forum load time. I figured we would see how the forum functions for a few days. These are things we can do in the future to speed the forum if needed.

Please continue to post in this topic when you experience difficulty, see bugs in the forum, or have a great idea for the forum. Thanks for your patience in allowing us to resolve this issue.

Regards,
H-W Forum Team

Here's a new one.

My browser clears all passwords and history upon exit. When I get on HW, I have the option of logging in at the top left corner of the forum page. It will not let me do it, prompting me to another page asking me to try again, at which point I'm then given access.

Happens everytime.

What I meant to say is that I choose to clear all pws and history. I've had my settings changed so where I never had to login before and never had an issue

Nonetheless, my observation is the login at the top left of the forum page does not work for me initially. I don't see how having my settings to wipe out after use would squirrel with that, buttttttt I've been wrong before ;)

For squeals and giggles, I'll change my settings, save my pw, logout, and attempt to log back in.
