You will have to get an Oregon permit, even if you get the Utah permit.

They recently ruled in Oregon, that public universities cannot deny you to carry on campus, only the legislature can do that.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

I do not plan to carry while I am on campus. I live off campus and only have 1-2 hrs of classes a day so most of my time is spent else where, besides I have never been a big fan of firearms at school.. Wrong person notices and you could get into a world of hurt.

Also keep in mind most states have laws about carrying on college campuses.  I know it's stupid but in most states you can't carry at a college unless you have a letter from the college's president.  Don't expect to get one.  I think it might make you a bit suspect if you showed up at the president's office asking for a concealed carry letter.   :o

Also the 92 FS is a great gun and it was my first handgun too at about your age.  However it's not a very good concealed carry piece.  It's too heavy and way too bulky IMHO and I carried one for years!  There are a lot of handguns that will be way more concealable and comfortable.  not that comfort should be the only reason for the choice in gun. but the gun you leave at home because it's too big is the one you wish you had when SHTF.  The good news is a CPL is a good reason to shop for a second one.  Also on the 92 FS I didn't like the stock trigger so I found a Langdon Tactical Overtravel corrected trigger.  it was great!  if you can find one it is totally worth the money.  If you look for a more carryable gun look at the springfield XD sub compacts.  their triggers are very nice.

From what I understand a loaded handgun in Oregon is a bad thing. No such thing as carrying in your car and not on your person. If you have a handgun in Oregon and you do not have a CC permit from Oregon you are in deep trouble. Ammo and gun must be separated and out of ANY possible reach of the occupants of the automobile. In Oregon a persons car is public, not private, property and can be searched by LEO's whenever they want.

Well, that is what we were told in the Oregon CC class anyway.

Check on Cabela's website, they list the Oregon and Utah permit classes.

Thanks Helix, I don't really plan on carrying all the time, I just want to have the permit and not need it than get in trouble for having the gun but no permit. Its my little insurance policy from getting in trouble.
