« on: October 27, 2011, 10:59:16 PM »
went out opening weekend and slayed em, and the weekend after! my buddy and I head out to our old log jam and holly Sh## did it change where we hunt! tides and high water from last year moved the channels BIG TIME! after we cussed at each other on which way to go, we finally found our spot. guess I'll let the pics do the rest. following pics are from three days of puttin the hurt to em. my bro hoyt6.0 went with us one day and he had one hand on his junk and the other hand tryin to hold a shotgun!:) wish my bro sent me his video he took, shootin started and we were done with geese 45 minutes later. had geese over the top of my bud and I while we were resetting our duck deeks, BTW, got one banded snow! HEAY BUDDY :yike:

Yesterday they were really skittish...  We hunt out of a boat at the mouth of the stilly on low tide.  Have a big spread of decks  (close to 7-8 dozen).  And stay as still as you possibly can while they are locking up.

scouting! we watch what these birds are doing, where they roost at night and where they feed during the day. we set up in there travel patern between roost, usually in big water, and feeding fields. it just so happens that these birds feeding areas and roost areas are close together. we set up a A$$ load of snow deeks and about 4 dozen pintail, widgeon deeks and 5 dozen mallard deeks. as the season progress' my duck deek spread gets smaller, mallards, and my snow spread gets bigger. I don't start shrinking my mallard spread until late november, that when the mallards start pairing up for mating and when they are paired up they stay away from larger flocks of mallards.

or...like I do a lot of the time, he knew the tide would be flushing out of (and back into) a honey hole.  Most of the more productive spots I know show best on either side of the tide. :)

Great shoot!
