Hey man,

I would have know problem taking you son out with me next fall. The genral spring season is pretty booked already for this year with friens and family. Can you make it over for the youth hunt? If so I would be willing to take you out. I love taking out first time turkey hunter and we could even try to get someone over to film the hunt. Wish you would of got a hold of me I could of slipped you 2 in for a hunt this year in the fall.

Machias I don't want to step on your toes if plans were already made

Thanks Brandon Give me a PM or a call

Oh heck no, not stepping on my toes at all.  The mission is to get the young man on his first gobbler, however that happens is what matters.  I have killed alot of toms and I actually get a bigger kick now taking someone else out and calling in birds for them.

If the winter continues as mild as it's been, there should be good numbers of birds this spring in all the traditional areas!  Once we hit the new year, the countdown begins.

Great plan to go out with one of the more experienced HW turkey hunters.  I did not harvest my first bird (A Jake in the General Spring Season) until after going on a Youth Hunt, when Turkey Slayer called in a bushy bearded ole gobbler off a ridge for my Nephew!  I was so excited I turned off the video camera before Blake made the shot!   :yike:

I tell you what, i Just want Cody to get a bird. I could care less about myself getting one. But i am not going to turn down the opportunity if i get a chance.
2 years ago Cody and i hunted around Tucannon, he had opportunities but neither one of us had a clue. I am a die hard elk hunter so i was trying to hunt them like i would an elk and that didn't work to well for us.

I can hunt anytime. I will take him out of school if i need to he does well in school.  And i have plenty of vacation.

I am going to buy him a new shotgun, i think an 3 inch 870.

I am taken back by how many generous people there are around. I thank everybody for the offers, and i am sure i will see a few of you in the spring.
I am not telling Cody about any of this i want it to be a surprise.

I'm thinking that we should have an organized Hunting WA youth for the spring season. Seems like a lot of guys here are willing to help out  young hunters with their first birds. I can't commit yet, but if it works out I'd be willing to sponsor a young hunter or 2. Someone just needs to teach me how to call  :yike:

Hang in there. My son and I have been at it for 3yrs now and still no thunder chickens. We also go to Dayton, I even got drawn twice for late hunt in Goldendale. Still no luck.   We have fun, and are already talking about doing it again next year.

If your a die hard elk hunter then you have a foot in the door...chasing gobblers is just like chasing elk .. same tactics ..the best tip I can give ya is always get as close as possible to the bird before calling ...I like to get in tight as possible ...say 100 yrd or less...JUST LIKE CALLIN ELK ... THE CLOSER YOU GET THE BETTER CHANCE YOU HAVE  :twocents:

It's the new year,  so spring turkey fever is socially acceptable!   :chuckle:
