So I guess I will start by saying i have been a lucky washington hunter. I got drawn in 2008 for archery buck hunt in the quilemene and harvested a 163 inch buck also got drawn in 2005 for a big horn ram with only 2 points and haarvested an outstanding ram. That is the best hunt of my life. Which leads me to 2011 myself and my best friend got drawn for the west wenaha bull tag. In all our scouting trips we found 4 360 or better inch bulls. unfortunatley with rifle in hand we were unsuccessful harvesting those bulls, did get some good pics though. On tuesday the 25th my buddy shot his bull at 167 yds. We had been shooting all summer at 400 plus knowing that we would probably have to be shooting that far. That would take 2 days getting him out of the hole he was in. it was a 5 mile round trip that we had to make 3 times, needless to say we were very tired. We found ourselves back in that same area on thursday cuz we were seeing a 7x8 toad religiously use this one open knob in the bottom about 3 1/4 miles in from camp. So our plan was to sit all day wait him out. So there we sit for about an hour when a cougar steps out to enjoy the sun he had no idea we were there. He gave all kinds of time to kill him. I ranged him at 174 yds again well inside 400, took a shot missed out of sheer nerves. unbelievably he turned a complete circle not knowing what was going on and walked off giving me second shot which put him down. that took all of thursday to get him out leaving me only 1 day to try to get my bull before the spike hunters showed up. so we set out friday and by 1 pm i had my bull down making this hunt close to my ram hunt as 1 of the best hunts of my life. thanks to some luck and a good friend
