Only shootin yesterday was with the Kodak
« on: November 03, 2011, 01:40:17 PM »
Really had high hopes as I got to the lake yesterday morning to be greeted by the QUACKs and HONKS of probably 30+ geese and a bunch of ducks. Oh and maybe a half dozen swans. But it turned out not to be so they got up as I walked in but I felt for sure they'd be back. Boy was I wrong. Chase and I set up 4 floater goose deks and a dozen ducks, added some more brush to our blind and got ready. From sunrise till about 11 the only company we had was COOTER. He swam in and just made hisself to home among the deks  :chuckle:

Suddenly a bit after 11 Chase sat up with his ear perked up listening then I spoted may 6 or 8 wigeons coming our way. Of course they wanted to set down at the far end of the lake so I let loose on the call and they came our way but way out of range then they's turn and head for the other end again. I repeated this several times till they finally went ahead and set down at the other end. They didn't stay long then they were up and gone again. You know how your side mirrors have that saying "Object are closer then they look" will this shot is just the opposite "Ducks are farther then they look" but at least this shot turned out pretty good.

Well that was it till about 4 when four more wigeons flew by way up high and just kep going. Chase and I spent most of the day watching empty skys and trying to get out of the wind and get a little bit of sunshine with a little shuteye throwed in  :chuckle:. Of course shooting time ended at 5:35 i think and about 5:40 after the deks are picked up and I've pulled the waders off and am lassing up the boots Chase once again lets me know he hears something and sure enough 4 more wigeon blow by and land at the far end again. Oh well maybe next time I can be in the right spot at the right time.

Some good pics.
