Cougars have had an archery season for a couple years now...

I'll be jiggered. I missed that change entirely.
I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. We'll have to agree to disagree on this, Kain, because I don't understand why someone who doesn't have a dog in the fight should be able to permanently affect the rules of the endeavor of archery hunting. It is by its very nature supposed to be hard and a change like this is just a move to make it easier.

That is the problem we dont know who does or doesnt archery hunt just from what tag they buy.  Cougars have had an archery season for a couple years now, did everyone that bought a cougar tag get the survey?  And all other game allows archery hunting so limiting it to just deer and elk does not represent everyone.  My problem with your statement was more to do with deer and elk hunters only and ten year="knowledgeable" hunter and everyone else has no right to have their opinion counted.

I really dislike this user group division that the department and some hunters keep pushing on everyone.  I consider myself a hunter NOT an archery hunter or rifle hunter.  I have hunted for 25 years.  Most of those years I hunted deer and elk with archery equipment.  My dad is having a hard time drawing his bow back anymore and we have discussed switching to muzzleloader.  If I do that does that mean I shouldnt have my vote counted anymore?  If I have not hunted archery every season for the last ten years does that mean Im not knowledgeable and should just be dictated to by those that "know what its all about"?  Give me a break.

 Its just sour grapes Kain.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!
