Killed them today. we had 5 rods out. we ended up with 4 keepers, 7 natives and 11 missed opportunities. Never in all the years have we had 22 opportunities in 1 day. All on spin-n-glo with a prawn tail.

Hatchery SH are put there for a reason, to catch and eat.
I will never keep a native (unclipped) SH, we need to rebuild the runs and every hatchery fish that successfully spawns is a detriment to the SH gene pool.
Hatchery steelhead do not do well in the wild, that is why they have to plant so many. There are many studies out there that explain it.
Anybody that catches a hatchery SH please keep it. That is what they are there for.

Steelhead is a steelhead,  catch my drift
Quite possibly the dumbest statement I've read.

Hatchery steelhead, born to be bbq'd! I have released plenty of brats, on those days when the bobber just keeps going down, but I will bonk my two every chance I get.  Hatcheries aren't there to rebuild the runs, they're there for fishermen to have something to catch and keep.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

Hatcheries are actually there for the commercials to rape the fishery for the public. I wish they were there for the sole purpose for us to fish and keep. But i will not go on the commercial bashing, to tired of it...

No its not .   :dunno:   We bought those fish to catch and consume if we let them go then the state spends our money to truck them to the food bank or give them to the Indians . Hence the Cowlitz . Now instead of recycling them back into the river they up the limit to six when they get their fish and anything that makes it to the hatchery after that goes to the food bank . I cant believe these people manage our fisheries . :dunno:

Went down behind the house to the Klick thursday.  Caught a nice 15 pounder.  The wife had one on and lost it.  Our first trip this season, but there will be plenty more.
