calling or waiting for them?

well i live near a heavly dense forsest no bushes under most of it, little seasonal water hole, not big or deap, non-clear cut. none open area that i know of i ahve walked for about a mile in of mutliple acreas., near a creak.  kinda give you an idea of the area.  well i have seena  pack of yotes, yes a pack, around mutiple times.

should i walk farther in look of and opening or should i find a spot that is a little open of big trees and call them in/wait for them to show them selves.  when i ahve been back there before found bones out there a few months old.   this is near my house adn mmy nabors dogs had draged home a eaten dear carcus. so we know they are around and kinda getting and idea what i should do to pack one home??

never called anyhtign in my life.  so a little help would be apricated.

also, jsut thought about this, never done it but the regs are confusing:  can you bait yotes when it is not big game season (aug 1st)  or hunt at night for them. the regs make it confusing.

Pick up a couple randy anderson videos and start calling, you'll see how they set up and hear the sounds they use. Don't howl until you have been calling for a while. It's easy to mess up and give a warning howl or a challenge and that'll screw you this time of year. If you've seen groups running together get ready, I've had as many as 8 come in at once, though usually pairs or singles. If you dump one DO NOT jump up and go running out to see it. Keep calling for at least 1/2 hour. If you see one coming that keeps looking behind it or to the side it's with another. Keep your head be patient and ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS watch downwind.

I usually only do 15-20 minute sets but on virgin ground with the pups out roaming take it slow. Be wary if you're in bear country, they come too.

Yes you can spotlight but not during any big game season. Be carefull! Be sure the eyes you see belong to a yote. A fawn can look awefull yotey if not to close. I really don't like spotlighting, but know of people who've done well. I wouldn't bother with baiting if you've seen them there, they live there. Get to calling.

I would go read or watch video on how people set up and call, then go find a spot you can see a little ways from and sit down and call. Some times they come in running and others they will take there time and slowly come in. It might take a little bit for one to come in so dont give up to soon. I like to call for a little bit then stop and wait for a few min and start to call again. And dont move to much coyotes can pick up movement and you might never see them if they see you first.
