2011 LT Blacktail
« on: November 20, 2011, 01:10:23 PM »
First off sorry for the poor picture, I hunt by myself when rifle hunting and only carry my cell.  I was hunting in my usual late hunt unit
and the snow was flying when I pulled up to the gate and of course there was a truck parked with a guy sitting in it  :bash:.  I asked
are you going right or left at the T, he stated to the right, so I told him I will go left.  At this point I started walking up and decided to hit
a couple old over grown cat roads that I have walked in past years and had success.  As I slowly made my way up, I noticed a doe
eating through the vine maple so I sat and watched her feed for a while as she slipped into the reprod.  I slowly made my way up the
road stopping every couple of feet and glassing and hitting the doe bleat.  Looking through the vine maple, I catch a movement through
my binos, as I watch the deer I noticed he is strutting with his head up lips curled and when he turned and looked down a draw I notice
he is legal.  I put the cross hairs on his chest and touched off, and at this point I see him hunch up and then bolt off into the reprod.
I tape off where I shot from and then tape off where the buck was last standing.  I searched for a few hours for blood and instead of
blood I found a couple pieces of hair. So I started making my way through knee high ferns and 70 yards in I found him
tucked next to a dead fall.
