Master Hunter December Doe Tag - Colfax/Pullman Land Access

I'm planning to hunt in the Colfax/Pullman area for the master hunter antlerless season December 9-15th.  From what I know of the area I think most of the land is private...does anyone on here have land access in the area or live there? 

I remember a few places that had Hunting by Written Permission Only signs two years ago.  Unfortunately I don't have their phone numbers, live far away, and will only be able to hunt 2-3 days.  I'd love to have the permission in hand or at least have talked to the landowners before I get to the area.  If anyone on here can help me out with some contact information it would be much appreciated.  Thanks

I am pretty sure if you knock on a door this time of the year almost all farmers will let you take a doe.  Late Buck tags are done and for the most part faming is done till spring. 

Don't just knock on any door, look for the ranch house that has all the equipment, elevators, etc. etc... alot of houses are rented out in the area and those people will turn you away because they cannot grant or deny you permission.

First you should send an email to the spokane region wdfw and ask for a list of landowners complaining of deer damage. After that, go to the wdfw website and print their Go Hunt intereactive map, which will show land access areas on private lands including feel free to hunt and hunt by written permission only. You'd be surprised how many farmers are willing to let people hunt and how many locals are willing to help out.

I plan on tryin to head over for that hunt too. Dont forget about the core of engineers lands along the Snake.

Is this a whitetail and or mulie tag?  The army core of engineer land off the snake carries lots of mulies but not so many whitetail.  Don't make this harder than it has to be....To kill a doe over there should take all of about an hour.  It will take you longer to get permission.  Google "Pullman, Wa farms" find some farms and start calling.  If you are very polite and state you only want a doe they will let you hunt.  Make sure they know you will not be driving through their fields and that you are willing to WALK.

  My dad and I are also in the master hunter program and he still has his deer tag to fill.  We were thinking about making a run over there to put some meat in his freezer.  I have a couple land owners contact info.  What GMU are you looking to hunt in?

Here is a good hint as well.  1. Don't wear anything or have anything that says you are a Huskies fan.  2. And this is EXTREMELY important.  Do NOT take a 4wheeler with you.  If they see that in the back of the truck your chances of hunting their property are about 0.  3. Like many said before me mention you are there to harvest a doe.

 4. Go during a Cougars home game while everyone is at the game.  You can hunt anywhere you want during a home game.

Jrebel: it's whitetail only.  I'm looking to hunt in GMU 139; there are actually a few specific roads that we'll probably be around but I know there is written permission only.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  I'll definitely try emailing wdfw and asking about deer damage complaints.

Everyone did seem friendly and allowed us to hunt two years ago, especially since it was a doe tag and buck is closed.  I guess the biggest thing is that I'd love to have written permission to the written permission only areas before i start hunting on saturday morning.

I may live in Seattle, but you're not going to find any huskies gear here...will probably be wearing something cougars just to help.

You're traveling in late november from seattle to pullman to shoot a whitetail doe? If it were me I'd take the $200 you'd spend on fuel and go buy some t-bones at safeway.

I would expect the people who read this forum to love hunting and realize it's not about saving money on food...
