I'm thinking to buy a Tikka T3 .308
« on: November 24, 2011, 07:58:39 AM »
I need to get a good all around NW rifle. Must be light weight and accurate.
If you have experience with this model please let me know what you think. The 30-06 was another option to consider....

Thanks,

Tibi

Ive shot a couple tikka t3's and they seem to be a good lightweight, accurate rifle. I would go with the .308 any day over the 30-06 but thats just my personal opinion.....

The tikka is only a long action so might as well stick with 30-06  :twocents:

.270 WSM is another good consideration. Read up on the ballistics on this newer round. Pretty impressive.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

I have a T3 in 270, very accurate and very light! You will love it!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Great rifle.  30-06 is good choice.  270 WSM is another very good option.

i have a Tikka 300 win mag... outstanding light gun but if I were going to get another on in the caliber(s) you are suggesting - no doubt in my mind it would be a regular 270... Take a look at the 270 ballistics and I think you would see why...   Short Mags - shells are to expensive and hard to find unless you are in the big city...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

There is a ton of info about the tikka rifles on here. I own several and have had nothing but good luck with them. We have one that has been more then half way around the world with us. It has been beat up and abused by baggage monkeys and bad weather and still stood to the test. The 308 is a good all around caliber. I do prefer the 7mm-08 over the 308

I bought a Tikka T3 300 WSM and absolutely love it.  Just be aware of the cost of bullets!

Just put a sims prefit recoil pad on it and some deadnutz or talley rings.

  ...or you could always just use the ones that come with the rifle and just blame poor shooting on warm beer, dirt in eyes, feelings were hurt by wife or hunting partner etc. etc.  :chuckle: :chuckle:
