Yeah bench leg is a cross between the blactail and mule deer. Here we have the super bench legs that have all 3 crossed into the gene pool :chuckle: We have killed blactail/whitetail crosses, mule deer and whitetail mixes but most are just blacky and mule deer mixes

mostly klickitat and yakima counties. I don't know where the whitetail part came from though.

We are on the east side  Just whitetails coming in and mixing with the already common bench legs. We killed one funky buck this year that michelle has the cape to that was more blacky mixed with a whitetail. Its pretty funny when people that are known for killing big whitetails show up to my place and say thats a great whitetail where did you kill it :chuckle: When its a bench leg mix :chuckle: Some funky gentics around these parts  Most our deer don't get super big horns and are pretty crabby. Every once in awhile a buck with more mule deer gentics shows up and thats when we get our bigger bucks  I am after one right now!

Yeah.. When a Columbia Coos WT mixes with a Mule/Blacky benchleg, then you're looking at a stalky muscular short nosed crab lookin WT racked, dark face with wide blacktail/black tip or just plain dark tail. Hooves the size of Big Horns!

I'm glad someone cleared that up.   :chuckle:  I was wondering what a "benchleg" was myself!

There are some blacktail/columbia whitetail crosses along the coastal end of the Columbia River.  I showed one to my kids this year just outside of Naselle.
