Crap. What a horrible accident. Wouldn't have thought that could happen.

2 years ago my Hoyt crapped out at full draw and sent a 1 1/2" x 4" diameter peice of the limb through my left hand. sounded like a .22mag went off. It was pretty ugly, spent about 5 hours in the emergency room and I still don't have feeling in my thumb.
There was an upside........I got a really cool scar  :chuckle:  .......and a new bow  8)

I wish I knew what he was shooting.  what weight of arrow and all that good stuff.  Probably wouldnt matter.  i give my bow a good once over almost every time I shoot it.

Terrible tragedy to have happen to someone.  I once saw an Big Sky Magnum, which a conglomeration of bow parts put together by one of the local archery shop owners in the Flathead valley in Montana, it broke the riser just below the upper limb while a guy was at full draw.  Part of the riser and limb came around and smacked the guy in the back of the head and he ended up in the ER with a hell of a gash.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

Wish I did but at the time I wasn't thinking about it  :chuckle:
It was my fault, it was a 10 year old bow and I didn't inspect it when I pulled it out of the closet to shoot. I'm sure to limb was cracked.
Took me a while to get back on the horse after that  :) skipped archery that year

Dam, makes me think how lucky I was when I was at full draw and my bow hand slipped off the handle and next thing I remember is picking myself up off the floor. That happened back when I use to pull 80lbs. Still have the little scar on my forehead.

Here's a tip that I learned and that saved me: when a limb is about to explode it makes a metallic "CLINK" sound on either that draw back or the previous one.  If you hear a strange sound when you draw, then immediately let down and check that sucker over well.  I heard it with my Mathews, and the limb had cracked.  The next draw could have been ugly.  By the way, the sound is about what you'd expect to hear when hitting together two aluminum arrows: just one TINK and you know not to shoot it.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

actionshooter,

A new bow probably seemed like a good deal, but you could have gotten a lot more...

There may still be time to sue.  I hate frivolous lawsuits, but I don't believe this one is frivolous.  We can't have manufactures taking any shortcuts when it comes qc...   :bash:

Just a thought...
