Ammonia for scent control???
« on: November 28, 2011, 10:29:11 AM »
Has anyone tried non-scented ammonia for cover scent.  I heard from a co-worker that it works awesome, but I am skeptical???????? :dunno:

I know... I am afraid to try it because next weekend is my last to try and stick an elk, but I got busted last weekend only 5 elk steps away from a shot????  My co-worker swears it works so well that he can smoke cigs then walk right up on a deer down wind from him? ? ? ? ?

use it all the time.  put sponges in boot laces.and soak with ammonia.  Also put in spray bottle and spray clothes!  tip..don't use lemon scented.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

I have heard of using vanilla and fox urine but not ammonia.  Let us know how it works if you try it.

There is nothing in the world that will allow you to walk up to a downwind deer while smoking a cigarette.... well maybe a high fence or tame deer.

Ammonia won't kill the scent, but it is a more powerful scent that after smelling it for a short time most animals olfactory system ignores that smell. Sounds like a good idea to me.

In his defense... he said after smoking a cigarette.  Obviously it wouldnt work while smoking.
