Good to hear you've got a solid crew Hammer.  I mostly hunt solo because the few guys I've taken want to shoot everything that moves (squirrels with a .50 BMG, Really?), hide in the car from rain, show up late because hungover, and always want to go converse with ol JD.  I'd rather have female hunting partners that actually want to get out and hunt than most guys I've taken or even talked to about hunting.

I can understand your line of thought. I may consider it one day, if she could pack quarters. ;) but at the same time, the women I date aren't  built like pack mules. :) It's all good, they do their thing and I do mine. There's time for each other later.

I like my solitude time, I like to move as I please and work it by myself, I like to push myself. When I have a rifle on my shoulder and I'm alone with my thoughts is when I sort things out and at the same time lay some thoughts to rest. It's just my thing.

I would rather stuff anchovies down my shorts and toss myself to the Sealions at Ballard Locks before I would drag a GF along hunting. Sorry, no manicure salon or Starbucks out here hotstuff.

Well I am quite sure there are a lot of females on here to include my wife, that would buy the anchovies for you. And actually kick you dead in the A$$ so you would not have to toss yourself  ;)

My wife said she'll chip in as well.  Good thing we have guys around to perpetuate stupid stereotypes of helpless women in the field.....

I do most of the packing out of the elk quarters with a nephew while my husband does the butchering and quartering out.  I am in much better shape than he is and more of a hiker.  He will help with the flat dragging which I can't do myself.  I also walk farther to hunt than he does, he likes to road hunt.  It just depends on your style.  I wouldn't say either of us fills more tags than the other we just hunt different.  I am 2 up on filling elk tags to his none ( I can boast a little can I?).  The whole experience from hiking to shooting (the smallest only a few seconds of the hunt part) to dressind out packing or dragging out to the cutting and wrapping and, of course, eating is all great.  I am a firm believer that alcohol should be left at home or under control, which most people cannot do.  As far as the dancers I believe that is a fantasy and not a reality.

Ya, shes a keeper KrisM! Definatly let her do her thing, she will suprise you!

I wish i had a wife that likes to hunt, (besides cupons)LOL
My daughter is off to a good start at 14(been in the woods with me since the age of 5), she LOVES hunting, (especialy after her 250yard shot downhill for her first deer. In fact, i cant drag her fishing in my 21' trophy, but anything hunting wise, she is all over it!!
If i was young again, i would be after the hunting women!!

Wish there were more women hunters out there!  to the women that are!!
Paddle faster!!,,,,I hear banjo's!!!!

Wahooo! And there it is, priorities. I don't drag my elk head around chasing women all year, so why should I drag my women around chasing my elk head.  ;)

guess its the way you were talking  :dunno: I was assuming you thought that was the only reason a chick might wish to go to deer camp or elk camp....in my case I wanna go kill something and one of these days I will....  So a guy's wife wanting to go hunting is awesome if you ask me ....

And that chick will keep up if it kills her... lol....  no quit in her when it comes to hiking and hunting at all...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

my only advice, is be patient, take your time and teach her right rather than, panicking about getting her a deer. if she truly enjoys it, it wont matter if she gets something right away. also, don't put her anywhere alone until shes 100% confident, and capable.

My girl isn' the manicure and dress type of girl. She is a hard core Motocross fan and loves to ride and will run the wheels off of most of you guys on a dirtbike. I'm not worried about her going out with me and if she doesn't like it then it's not going to hurt my feelings. I told her that she could hunt anytime she wanted with me, but under no circumstance could she come to elk camp with me. Deer, Bear, and Bird hunting I will take her anytime she wants, but Elk camp is my "vacation." I'm pretty stoked about the whole idea, I think the first few times we are going to go get on some pretty easy spots and try the sit and wait method and if she wants to hike then we can find a couple places to walk a bit.

And in a couple of years she will be in elk camp also. I said the same thing with rifle vs archery. You can rifle hunt all you want leave the archery to me. It is my unwinding time. She now bowhunts with me. And I have to say it is in the top 5 best experiences when you can call a bull in and watch your wife whack it. Then you get the look, kind of over the shoulder camo mask on. And the wink that goes with it. Now if I a dude did that to me we would be out there throwing down. If she likes it and wants to do it. then why limit her to certain parts of it?
