Margaret Cow Archery Cow Tag
« on: November 27, 2011, 06:27:57 PM »
Not many more days until I hopefully accomplish my first archery elk harvest!!!
Any updates, suggestions, pics from the those out there chasing the elk over the last week.  I have been watching the weather and WSDOT camera for a couple of weeks and need a little more now that it is getting close.  Thanks all.  :hello:

There was about 8 inches of snow up at Elk Rock the other day but I don't know about now. On the flats below the Forest Learning Center there were about 50 elk scattered about enjoying the weather. Got me a nice cow up there this morning on the 3107 road. Ya gotta go in the timber for 'em. Good luck.

Margret sucks for taking 9 years to draw a cow tag. Just two years ago it was infinitely better. I'm going to kill an elk eventually but I see more elk in my general late season unit (obviously a much harder hunt).  Lol.

I did have a long shot during a walk today but decided to pass. I wanted my wife to see the bull at 60 yards broadside and the cows stopped in bad spots. I also got 20 yards from some cows in the doghair but other than that I think I saw 11 elk the entire day. Lol

You end up killing one? I guess today is the last day. My buddy and I figured it out, but there's nothing special about Margret after 60 rifle hunters have finished up with it. Jk.

Elk number 10 is down for me. It's been a good year! =)

I could have shot a cow or two both days I hunted very easily if I had a rifle tag and I did mostly road hunting. (I figured it was my one chance to road hunt and MAYBE get an animal back to the truck whole for the first time in my life) That worked out perfectly for both my buddy and I and I doubt it will ever happen again. Lol

Where did you hunt? Either way, it's really not that great of an area for a place that took me 9 years to draw. I see more elk in my general unit late season hunt, but there's no truck for many, many miles. =)
