Made some weasel boxes today.  Got two out tonight.

Those are great.  Did you make that bigger pan for the trap or buy it like that?  I tried to make some for my traps and didnt have good results.

Fred, what do you use for bait in there?  Wouldn't that be considered a body gripping trap?

Mice and rat traps are not considered body gripping traps.  I heard raw bloody liver is a good weasel bait.

I use chicken livers and anise extract.  A good weasel lure helps as well.  I'll skin, flesh and stretch them and then either sell them or have them tanned.  Probably tan a few and sell a few depending on how many I end up with.

Lokidog the rat traps do not fall in the banned trap list.

We are being overrun by mink out here and our rabbit population is crashing.  Will mink hit bait?  I have not had any luck except by putting a trap in front of the hole where they got into the chicken coop a few years back.

Mink will definetly do bait, lots of mink are taken with baited 110 conibears......where legal.

I have heard of guys using a spray bottle with blood to make a mess of it around the box entrance...ermine seemed to like that?

Friend of mine in GH County has had good luck catching mink in baited cage traps.
