A friend of mine has a foxpro prairie blaster and he went to his parents house and capured a chicken in distress sound.  I cannot imagne what he did to that poor chicken.  But that call kills more yotes then anything else he has.

I personally think the Prairie Blaster is a little tooooooo loud but it sure works in the thick timber on the wet side of the state.

I bought the Spitfire when it came out.  For the money I think it is the best call out there ($200).  The LCD display on the remote is pretty awesome compared to other calls for the same money.  Volume is good but not loud enough for some areas.  I use it in conjunction with mouth calls if I want to be louder.

If the Wildfire ($300) had been out at the time I probably would have spent the extra $100 dollars.  It holds 200 sounds has a better remote and the Foxbang feature is kinds cool.

I did a quick little review on the Spitfire if you want to see it.

So I bought the foxpro wildfire and have been messing around with it at home. I must say that it is pretty impressive and I cant wait to take it out this weekend. I bought a waterproof bag for it and an external speaker so I can use it in bad weather. My next question is what motion decoy to get, anybody have any suggestions. Thanks for the input guys, this is truly an awsome site with great people. Most people dont volunteer info to easily, not the case here. Its nice to get some ideas here and figure the rest out in the field.

I have a mojo critter but only have limited experience calling.  I am torn on this decoy.  I have had two coyotes see and take off running.  Some guys swear by them and there is countless hours of film showing they work but I have just had bad luck with them.  I think Im just going to go with the old turkey feather on some fishing line and see how that goes.

I use a turkey feather, a Mojo critter , a blackjack and a whirling woodpecker.  They all seem to work for me.  I'm partial to the whirling woody, I have 5 of them(4 backup because everytime I find something that works they quit making them).  They eat batteries, in cold weather it takes a fresh battery at each stand but are easy to transport and set up.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I personally have not bought one but I can't justify paying foxpro's prices for one. I do kinda like the idea of the quivering bunny or whatever it is that primos makes for 30 bucks. I've heard good things also for just the feather idea. Not to mention varmint al's decoy as a diy.

I use the MoJo critter.  I used it alot this month (Nov) and had a few yotes come in and hang up. I'm not sure if it was because of the critter or not. Last yote I did shoot, I didn't have the critter out.

I've been thinking of picking up the Wobblin' Rabbit.

After reading this thread, I too have now decided on the FoxPro Wildfire.

You can call in just as many yotes with a mouth call from Bearmanric or Rainshadow....maybe even more.  Get a good decoy, like the mojo and just use you mouth calls.  Can't go wrong.

Don't mean to jack your thread but what call is best to buy if $ is an issue. I can't justify spending $600 for a call for my first one

Before I bought a FoxPro I bought a Primos PowerDogg for about $100, I think you can find them used or on closeout for around $50-$60. Normally I wouldnt recommend it, but if you are looking for a starter, it works. I called in & killed several dogs with it. But, its not very loud, the remote SUCKS and you cant change the calls. It comes with about 12 on it. Like I said, for a starter, it works, just know that you are probably going to want to replace it before too long.

I was just going to say Kain had a killer video review of the spitfire but I see he's already put it here!

As far as decoy, I use the Quiver Critter, got it from Bass Pro for $30 shipped. As some guy here know, I absolutely swear by it! I've said this many times before, but whenever I call a coyote in and they see it, they are completely mesmerized by it, they cannot take their eyes off it. I have had at least 3 come in and see me and still come in to get that wabbit! I've had one come about 15yds from me and then bolt off, to cover about 100yds away, only to slink back into to get the decoy (and die trying) In fact, weekend before last, I called in a female, I know she saw me but she stayed there just looking back & forth at me & the decoy. (see Coyote Smackdown thread) I dont set up without it. Its a little vibrating motor with a wire that you put on a stake in the ground and slip the rabbit "puppet" over the wire - runs on 2 AA batteries and its like CRACK to a ky-oat.

I'm thinking about getting one of the Primos ones I saw at Walmart and put them out there one on top of the other doggie style for some serious dog catching action! oh...sorry... too much info. OK, well I'm gonna put 2 out there to really drive the coyotes nuts!
