So what do you guys think will happen with this cold snap?
« on: December 02, 2011, 05:37:55 PM »
Im thinking It will stay about the same. But my buddy thinks that it will push them out.... I sure hope some new birds come down, but I seem to think big cold storms push them down. :dunno: I just never really can tell. It seems like they just show up one day for no good reason.

I'll head out in the morning and see whats around, hopefully get a bird or two.

Who knows? Hopefully the birds are feeling it up north. My parents live north of Bellingham and I talk to them frequently this time of year to find out what's flying. They said it's been moderate up there this week. But a lot more activity with birds heading south than last week. Hopefully they'll be down here by this weekend!

Thanks! Yeah I live in the Olympia area. My buddy and I have had some pretty good duck shoots so far but not much luck with the geese. We must be doing something wrong! Haha. We sure are seeing a lot of ducks though. Seems like a lot of them are pretty call shy all ready though. Hoping this cold weather will bring in some fresh northerners to trick. Haha

This is about the time King County starts to see birds. I'd like to try the Crescent lake release site but not sure if I can even get out.  :dunno:

Not cold enough to freeze anything important and concentrate birds, cold enough to freeze some of my better spots! Duck hunting limbo.

The birds hammered Welts last night. Fresh birds. This cold may be pushing some down from BC
Bird counts in signature are as gay as Elton John's fanny pack.

I looked at the forcast and I swear it was to be dry for at least a week.  I came to work this morning and all of Yakima had be "oiled" "treated" "s[rayed"  whatever you call it, which they usually do right before a storn.   :dunno:

Calgary temp 18 F. at noon, should start some form of duck migration.

Bone, spraying de-icer here also. No indication of precip next 7 days.

D.O.T. must be having all there assets deployed, therefore they can not possibly take any spending cut.??

Lots of geese in the Moses Lake area, however darn few ducks in the north basin, some teal.
Adapt, improvise,overcome

Enjoy American Lamb, 10,000 coyote's can't be wrong!

Yakima has had an inversion sitting above it for the last week and a half, its been 10+ degrees warmer up the passes, that results in warmer river temps, warmer river temps combined with the cold air sitting under the inversion results in ice build up on the roads, not significant build up but enough to warrant de-icing.

it's cold here on the west side. i got back to the ramp at 9:30pm after yep, getting stuck again and ice was on the shield. I really didn't care all that much about getting out of there in time. birds were moving and i really wanted to get a duck for the dog. by the time i walked the boat over to the island and picked up my honker dekes and walked 100  yds from shore to the boat, the tide was sucked out. nice night, clear, stars and a big moon. I guess i can sit another 4 hrs and listen to ducks IF there are any around! before the tide comes in and floats the boat. It sounded like a refuge out there. teal, pintails few gadwalls, widgeon, Mal's, a few redheads and where they go in the morning i don't know but it's cold and ducks will be moving around. If you can hunt during the week then get out and hunt. one day it might be slow and the next very good. the day before i hunted there was a lot of shooting. the day i showed up it was very slow. You just never know. Time to be duck huntin is now
