I just got back from 4 days of fishing in Sekiu....not 1 Silver.  I spoke with the WDFW guy who was checking fish at the dock and he said he hadn't checked a Silver all season, but thought 1 might have been caught in Neah Bay???.....pretty scary.

The migratory silvers are still a month or more away from Sekiu, so not having fish there now doesn't scare me too much.  I've been there in July when it's been chock full of smaller silvers, but at that time the fish are just cruising around looking for food and could go anywhere...they're not on their way back to the rivers yet.  Two years ago was similar...no coho inside, they all stayed out in the ocean feeding until they were ready to head for the rivers.  We caught a ton year before last at Swiftsure, but guys who stayed inside the straits got nothing.

With a few exceptions, the humpies only return in odd years, so not surprising that they won't open up the fishery in an even year.

Yeah, I know it's still early.  We go over the second week of July every year, this is the first year that I haven't caught some small Silvers.  We should at least be seeing more reported out of Neah Bay, since lot of those guys are going 10-20 miles out.  LaPush hasn't reported any Silvers either.  It's weird that they're not even seeing the small ones....I guess they'll show up, when they show.
