Selkirk whitetail shed
« on: December 01, 2011, 08:57:42 PM »
My dad found this shed while hunting late buck. He figures its one from a big buck that hes seen the last couple years. The bone eaters have gotten to it a bit but you can imagine what it would look like full. A lot of mass, the spot between the G2 and G3 is about 7" around. I figured his spread to be somewhere between 20 and 22".

Nice shed.  Man I hate when the critters get to them first!  My brother found a last years Elk shed on Sunday, just the tip of the fourth was gnawed a lil.  So like a Moran I was trying to polish it out on a big alder tree.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

I have one VERY similar to that!!! Almost identical except you have some extra stickers, I will get a pic up hopefully tonight, its not from selkirk though its about forty miles away, but i kid you not it is very similar, and the same side.

Do you have the other side? I don't have the match on mine, and mine has been all chewed up and was sitting for awhile.

Yeah he's definitely one of those dark timber you'll only get a glimpse of me type of buck! I was actually heading back into where he likes to hang out at before I came across the 4 pt. that I shot I posted. So that squashed that but I'll do a little extra scouting for next year.

Stormin85- no he looked around for a while but never did find the other half which sucks but oh well. I'm gonna go in there early spring and see if I can't find his sheds from this year.

Thats for sure. I'd be curious of how many of these old bucks die from natural causes.

Nice we will be getting a good group of guys together to cover our two places in spring for a weekend or two to try and find some other sheds, however we haven't got any pics of the buck that dropped the shed similar to yours, we do have a couple bucks that i would love to get my hands on their sheds this year though.

there is a 5x5 with eye guards that my dad bumped who we'd love to find his sheds, and then another 3x3 with eye guards whose eye guards are pushing 10 inches or so and we think he is about three so the next couple years he could turn out to be pretty nice.
