Thinking about 2012 where to go?
« on: December 04, 2011, 11:01:24 PM »
I have really started thinking more about the 2012 hunting season. I am not going on my big trip back to new zealand again this year so I am looking to do a new hunt. I would also like to pick up another outfitter to book for in one of these areas. So I am seeing what everyone thinks about these hunts. I know some of you have done these hunts and I would love feedback. Also for those of you that have not what do you think you would like to do more? I have several great trips already setup next year but looking for another let me know what you guys think.

Australia: The most popular is the water buffalo but I would be more into the axis/black buck and boar hunts.

Hawaii: I would probably be after axis deer/wild boar and then some of the wild goats and sheep.

These are the two that I am thinking about the most. If you have a great hunt that you think comes to mind let me know! Outside of big bucks and bulls :chuckle:

I love visiting hawaii and never really thought of it as a hunting destination. It would be fun to do a hunt there and get to relax on the beach afterwards.

That is one I plan on putting in for! I think you have to draw a tag down there for one of the areas/ like the missle range. I will be researching that for sure. I know a few guys on here have done it before. I will be asking about that later and looks like a great hunt

Steve I have yet to kill a whitetail so alberta is a good choice as well. As far as bear hunting I think it would be fun but I am not a huge bear hunter. I drew the spring bear tag this year and shot a record book bear. I don't think I need to much more bear hunting past that. I do call for them every year here as well. I would love to pop a wolf but don't know if that's a hunt I could really sell much. Plus I don't know if I want to spend the $ on a wolf hunt. Plus you know the taxidermy bill would be big if I killed one so it would be life sized! :chuckle:

Deerslyr that is just my thought! I am not much for sitting on a beach but I will go any place to hunt. I also figure I could sell hunts to a lot of guys going over there anyways to hang out with the family. If they are there they might as well shoot something to :IBCOOL:

Keep it going guys!

If you like good weather, there are plenty of exotics in Florida plus a ton of other stuff to do like fishing.

I think it would be sell able as well. If I could find a decent 3 day hunt over there for hogs or some sort of deer that was reasonably priced I would go for it if I had the money. Fish and surf for 3 days and go huntin for 3 days would be sweeeet. Are you mostly looking into exotics right now? Where have you already been? Im pretty good at dreaming up hunts  :chuckle:

I have been around :chuckle: I am a hunting slu* :chuckle: Yeah I am looking more into exotics. I have lots of lope and deer and elk hunts already. The exotic hunts tend to sell better and most people like the exotic hunts

Exotic Ram for me, perfect for fueling the addiction during the off-season, but you know we've talked.  Also adds character to a game room.  Sitka Blacktail on POW would be a fun one, I know a lot or people that want to do that one, and you can harvest 4 bucks.  I also been thinking about a lope hunt, I just want one to say I did it.  Also a wolf is a must for me.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

South Pacific: Sambar / Rusa
Lower 48: Free range auodad
Hawaii: I think the hunts are a little spendy for what you get. I'm not sure if they allow you to shoot trophy mouflon on Molokai right now...if you could I'd be all over that.
Looked into diy axis while I was in Maui...regs are worse than here! Already got one in TX, but would like the challenge of the terrain there.

Ibex in Spain. That is my dream trip.

Altai ibex is pretty reasonable....ahhhhh

Less than the Gredos anyway....  :chuckle:

The wife would like to go to spain so that could work.

Moose and caribou really arnt something I plan on hunting.

Dang jager thats a list! LOL Trust me the sambar and rusa have been tempting but dang they are spendy! I would rather shoot 4 stags for the same money :chuckle: The hawaii hunts that I have looked at are not to much more then most texas hunts.

I have thought about about going to florida and doing the gator and axis at once.
