Late Elk in the Nile
« on: December 05, 2011, 09:29:06 AM »
Spent the last weekend in the Nile with a fellow bowhunter. I saw all my elk in the Randle/Packwood area from Hwy 12 coming and going. About 100 head I'd guess.
My partner saw elk and deer both days in the Nile. I did have a nice 4x4 muley walk up to within 3' of me. Kinda neat. Very tough snow conditions but otherwise a beautiful weekend in the woods. Probably got a good 5 miles of still hunting in both days. Great to be out there.
Anyone else hunt the Nile late? Success? Stories?

I was up there this weekend drivng the Barbie Jeep

Seen elk everyday last weekend but one elk this weekend. The elk and hunbters have moved out of the area, thats for sure.

Did see a 2 point and 4 point Sat. morning. Dont have a deer tag but tried to help the next giuy that came down the road get him but it disapeard on us, I seen a deer cross over to the next finger ridge down the raving but I did not know if it was the  2 or 4 point buck, so we did not push it  :dunno:

Did  not see a single thing Sun. after sitting, watching a bench, and a hill side for a few hours before I headed home.

Talked to a few guys that were there all week and they didn't see ant elk sence Wed.

I was there on first opener.  Seen lots of fresh signs but no animals.  Called it quit after 11/25.
