I think many of you forget the ACTUAL purpose of the DP. The purpose is to take $$$ from hunters and fishermen who are willing to PAY for recreation and use that money to provide funds for people who DON'T!
Fact, Parks need $$$ they aren't cheap to run and keep up. Most parks users are lower income using the park as a free outing. (Nothing wrong with that IMO). About 10 years ago a $5 parking fee made attendance drop like a rock. The state doesn't think its important to fund parks, They couldn't get enough people to "donate" $5 while buying tabs, and Hunter and Fishermen went out of thier way NOT to buy the DP! So is there a kind of pass you all would buy to fund parks? Not me because as a hunter i'm tired of being looked at as a cash cow and not a customer!
