first off, this is my cusins buck. he started bowhunting with me a couple years ago for elk. after a couple years of archery tag soup he drew a multi deer tag, so we went to the 204 by my dads for some late whitey. when we first arrived, there was a foot of snow and saw a couple good bucks. then we had a heat wave, almost 50 degrees!! by opening day all snow was gone and less deer. on thurseday night a cold front came in and about 2" of snow. he put a good stock a a buck in a wide open field and got caught. then miss judged the yards from a blind at dust on another. On saturday morning we saw a buck standing at 65yards. i ranged for him and he shot. it looked like he pulled alittle and missed. he is a great shot and has no problem at that distance. the buck took off and ran straight into another buck! after running that buck off he CAME STRAIGHT BACK TO US! then we saw why. a doe was bedded 30 yards below us. the buck came back to with in 10 ft of the first shot! i ranged him again at 65yards again! he put his 60 on it, held,,, and then squeezed... it jumped about 20yards and then fell!!. buck down! first white tail and first kill with a bow! the crazy part was, his first shot didnt miss. straight threw the neck! ( he peeked). bucks are crazy when in the RUT. CONGRATS TO MY CUZ!! glad i was there to share.
