Anyone have Trouble with Blazer Ammo???
« on: April 15, 2012, 06:11:39 PM »
Bought a box today to shoot thru my new Smith and Wesson 44 mag. Loaded 6 shells into my cylinder and shot one, then again and all of a sudden my gun locks itself from cocking and the cylinder would not come out. Get home and eventually get the cylinder to open and see that my firing pin had went thru the primer of the shell causing it to break.  :bash: now i gotta send my gun back into smith and wesson to have a new firing pin put into it and who knows how long that will take before i get it back :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Sounds more like your hand gun had a problem, not the ammo.

I would think the same thing Hunterman but the handgun was brand new. and we also bought my wife a box of blazers for her walther 380 and out of the box of 50 the first two shots were duds a long with 8 other rounds out of the box. :dunno: So its really hard to believe both guns had problems when their both fairly new and not shot much :dunno:

ive shot exactly 50 rnds of blazer ammo through my kimber, stove piped about every third round. thought maybe it was just a bad casing or two but it happened every third round or so for the entire box, never bought another box of blazer since

why spend good money on a gun and put crap ammo thru it. that said your firing pin is probably not the ammo's fault. blazer ammo is some of the bad stuff buck or two more you could of at least got pmc or something.
hey anybody got a towel, i just hit a waterbuffalo

Sorry you had problems, it might be the gun.  I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds of Blazer .45  It's one of the few readily available TMJ rounds so you can shoot it at indoor ranges.  I've never really had any problems with it although it is pretty dirty.

I've shot tons of it and never had a problem.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I had this happen with a charter arms 44 special and Winchester ammo. The recoil was loosening up the bullet. The effect was the bullets were extending enough to where they were extended past the cylinder and wedging themselves onto the frame as I cocked it.

The one off center has never been used even in the cylinder.

Two of us are talking about 44's. One Smith and Wesson Mag that was purchased new having trouble with the first 21 rounds, and a 44 special Charter Arms. scottfrick started two threads one about the Smith and Wesson and this one.

The 44 special is snug with out any rattles except for the typical revolver play between rounds. When  its cocked there is no movement what so ever.
