MONSTER Steelhead!!
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:58:05 AM »
So I dont know if any of you have seen this before but I just found this picture while browsing on the web. It was linked from Sweaty Waders on a Blog called Moldy Chum. I couldnt find anything on the background story from either site  other than its from Kispiox, B.C. , so I dont know what the deal is but its a GORGEOUS fish no?

It's definitely a respectable sized steelhead!

Big and UGLY if you ask me.

It is pretty dark but I think its beautiful simply for a fish that size surviving! Now if it was the color of the 24# my boy got (see pic in "1st Solo Steelhead" thread, then it would be even more amazing. :twocents:

I'm not taking anything away from the fish.  I would love to catch one that size.  I just do not find it beautiful.  A beautiful steelhead to me is one that is so bright that it looks more white than chrome.

No, I got cha Big - completely understandable, I knew what you were saying and I agree with you. To me the color may not be beautiful but the fish still is simply because it exists ya know? :dunno: But the color of that fish my son caught is so much more nice looking, those colors really are beautifull!

All of those big steelies from up on the coast of BC are summer runs.  Those things come in during July and August and dont spawn until the springtime.  You would have to be getting them down pretty low and early for them to be two tone steelies.

Anything over 20 is a trophy in my book even if it is a little colored up like those Kispiox and other BC tribs fish tend to be.

Do they even clip them up there in BC or have the no retention/out of water rule? Either way, that size has GOT to be a nate no?
