found a big 'ol 5 point shed
« on: December 09, 2011, 11:44:33 AM »
was chasing some elk through the woods in winston and tripped over this thing, lost my hat and my dignity. i was trying to head them off by jumping down below them in the next canyon over and tripped over this thing under the brush....

needless to say i didn't get the elk. but mother nature traded me a hat for a shed.

Did the same thing in the winston last year! Chasing a heard through some thinned out timber and I ran past a stump when something jammed into my ribs. All in one motion I looked down at the stump i ran past to see the shed. I grabbed it and through it between my back and my pack and kept running. Only difference with my story is that the shed was a 4 point and we ended up getting a nice 4x4 bull

Nice find, so the sheds are attacking back now days from the sound of it.  Turning in to a dangerous sport it seems.  Cool antler, their all cool!
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

I'd trade a hat for a shed any day of the week. :chuckle: Nice find.

Found this 5pt in the Winston unit a couple years back while putting the sneek on a small herd of elk.
