Even though this video sickens me I keep coming back to read replies. I post a thread about respect of animals and photos and was called "yuppy" and that we worry to much about what the antis think. This was exactly what I was talking about. He shot elk. Elk goes out to edge. Either becomes weak and falls, or choices to jump. Not sure which. Not the important part. That where it should have ended. But NO some *censored* films it and puts on internet. Now everyone is up in arms.  :dunno:  What the difference in this and the kinda pictures I spoke of?
I remember your post, I believe we was called, tree huggers, or bunny huggers, also yuppies, and photo police it was.   ;)

Yes we were.  :chuckle:

Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

Is it me, or are people getting dumber

You can see the elk cornered and the guy shot it... then it jumped/fell off the ridge...

Not the most respectful video on the web, but if we pull that one, we are gonna spend a lot of time pulling youtube videos and not purchasing 99% of the hunting video's out there....

I think the guy was taking a shot at anti's in the youtube clip based on his notes about being tender.

As far as the hunt he showed, there is nothing unethical about the way he did it...  dead elk is a dead elk... at least he didn't shoot it from 900 yards and hit it in the gut....

Could ask the guy to do his video a little more tastefuly I guess...  but if you're gonna be consistent, you're gonna be busy with most hunting videos.

the reason everyone is upset is theres no reason to post an elk jumping to his death...i know you cant see it all but the way it was portrayed in the video wasnt good on "our" image...the anti's look for any reason possible to throw it back at us....yeah all of the hunting shows have deer/elk/ bear being killed but there clean shots...they dont show animals being cornered on a cliff and them jumping off...like i said in a earlier post the hunter should have backed off and hoped the elk would have felt safe enough to back track from the edge to make another shot and put the elk down...im sure it happens more than we all think..but you dont see everyone posting it on youtube for the world to see....the hunter should have more respect for the animal than that...i know i would....ive been archery hunting elk for 6 years and have yet to harvest one...ive had plenty of opportunity for shots..they would have been very risky shots and i chose not to take them for fear of loosing the animal and having more respect for the elk
:yeah: to all of that, I wouldn't have shot at that bull for the fact that if I dumped it where it stood I wouldn't want to be field dressing a bull that close to a cliff.  Clearly it had nowhere to go and only in time it would have came out for a better shot, or pushed out.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

I just felt the way they seemed to glorify the "options"....  not cool.

I have shot game that fell a long ways down. Hated to see it, would surely not have shared it with others.

Chit happens sure enough. We've all had things go south on us despite our best intentions. But does everything need to be posted on Youtube and such? C'mon man.
Can't we all just get along?

If it wasn't for the comments that the person put on the video about the elk only having two options and the elk landing closer to road I would have no problem with it. The comments were class less and puts hunters in a bad light.

To respond to the dude bitching about how his subject about photos and this compare...this video is a living ekk on a cliff presenting a gut  or texas heart shot being shot and driven over a cliff to plunge to its death...if he had simply taken a pic of the dead elk with a budweiser can and a cigar jammed in its mouth there would be les of an ethical issue...in my bunny hugging tree loving environmental dumb emotional girl opinion
and its just an opinion so iy is worthless ...

I couldn't agree more.  I make no apologies or bones about the fact that I kill what I eat, and I'm not ashamed to make that know to non-hunters.  However, I could never put something like this up and feel like it was the right thing to do.

I could care less about anti-hunters.  However, I do care about people like my brother and sister-in-law, and the remaining majority of the VOTING PUBLIC, who don't hunt but can easily accept the fact that I do because of how I go about it.

I really dont see anything unethical about this. They shot an elk standing on a cliff. It fell off the cliff. Just like 90% of goat hunts and no one seems to care about that. The way the video was presented was terrible and I would never put something like that up on the interne though.

:yeah:  or sheep...people on here cease to amaze me.... shooting animals that have feelings and shouldnt cause they have a fawn or a calf hell maybe they didnt shoot said bull cause the hunter knew its dad and done enough damge to its family so he passed..waiting for that on here

I got no problem with how he killed the bull. Now the video? Well thats a personal choice.

I find no harm in how an animal is killed, as long as it is a shot that is the best choice to to put the animal down with little or no suffering.

If you can do this at 30 yds or a 1000 who really cares......

I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

Well, my  :twocents:  on the matter is this,  I don't care in the method at which was used to harvest this animal but, I do care in which the presentation was made.

Go to you tube and post a comment, maybe the guy will pull it off.   You can find it at Elk Jumps off Cliff.   Surely not the smartest poster.
