« on: December 11, 2011, 09:40:32 AM »
20 shots and 4 ducks this morning :bash: :bash:. My shooting is terrible. fun morning anyway with lots of mallards flying. I Just hope they stay and more come down to make the hunting good for weeks to come.

No it doesn't.  Damn pellets weren't flying straight or shot was bouncing of bird (they must have thicker feathers than normal).  :chuckle:

1 bird for 5 shots is the nat'l avg, according to a waterfowl hunter study I read awhile back.

I shot 17 for 3 yesterday. Some of my shots were a little high or far, but I was trying a different load, and curiosity got the best of me.  :chuckle:

I am trying to be more patient and wait for the best shots.

I don't refer to it as bad shooting, but rather giving them a chance...I like to give my game animals a "warning shot" usually anyway, makes it more sporting :chuckle:

If you have not put your current hunting loads on paper with your gun and choke tube you might want to do that. It could be the pattern and not really you. If it is, you will save a ton of money on shells by investing in a better choke

Duck hunting is some of the only hunting that you can shoot all day, not even get a 1/4 of what you shot at and still laugh your ass off about it!!! Cant beat a day out away from everything, shoot your gun and not love it.

What choke tube were you using and how far away were the ducks  :dunno:
