if it was me i would enter the gem state tourney in Boise idaho and hunt in eastern washington.  You will find that the bigger events are a little more legit and more likely to have a fair chance at competing.  I have done tourneys before on a smaller level and got hosed by locals doing whatever they could to win, and without the resources to uphold the rules, you really have no chance against a local crowd.

Do not understand why 21 dogs would smell "fishy' to anyone, 12 hunters did kill 21 dogs, just didn't participate in the contest, even though the dogs did.
If someone can figure out how to run a "contest" fair and square, then go for it.

Hooked On Toys in Wenatchee has held a coyote durby for the last 3 or 4 years, I'll have to see if they are going to do one this winter and if so, when?

Looks like someone grew up learning that you should do whatever you have to to win.  I would rather walk away knowing how i stand in the game of calling in coyotes than have a full wallet but to each there own.  I just know that when in a "calling" tourney and you loose to a couple of drunks driving around on snowmobiles with shotguns with the plugs out, it gives you a bad taste in your mouth.  If that is how you want to kill coyotes then go for it, it is not illegal, leave a tourney for those that want to compete fairly.  I know, blah blah blah, you won so who cares, this post was for nothing.

I agree with you furbearer. It should be about who can call in and kill the most coyotes. Not who can burn the most gas. I hike my butt off coyote hunting and love every step of it. Having those dogs run in to the call is like no other experience out there.

hey diamond, no one in the world goes to vegas to have fair odds, that is why they call it "Gambling."  We are talking about a coyote calling contest, not a gamble.  There are things in life that have an unspoken ethic that is asked of you and i believe hunting is one of those.  The fact that you go into an event, where an ethic is ask of you, with the attitude that unfairness is going to happen so I should do it too is mind blowing.  Good luck to you and hope you find plenty of stuff to spend your unethical money on.

Well shoot boys, I thought this was about the Warden Coyote Hunting derby, My mistake horning in like that, I never heard of the Warden Lions Club ever having a Coyote Calling Derby.  I suppose you know what you are talking about!!  Maybe someone will let me know if and when they have a Coyote Calling Derby again.

and not to worry about ethics, if any WDFW rules are broken or anyone is cited you are disqualified and forfeit your entry fees.

talked to some people in Coulee City and they have not heard about it , E-mailed an associate at WDFW Ephrata, and have not recieved any intel today. Will advise.
