Lead Ban Crowd Attacks Again
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:48:15 AM »
Excerpt from the The American Sportfishing Association article published 12/7/2011 on the NRA Hunters Rights web site (http://www.nrahuntersrights.org/Article.aspx?id=5825).

“On November 16, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was yet again petitioned by the Center for Biological Diversity and two other anti-fishing groups, requesting that the agency regulate the manufacture and sale of lead fishing tackle of certain sizes and uses under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).”

The Center for Biological Diversity and other groups like them appear to be determined to destroy all sporting activities that involve hunting or fishing!

Write your representatives and ask them to support H.R. 1558 and S. 838

Here’s what you can tell them; just copy and paste, or write your own message; I’m just trying to make it as easy and quick as possible.

I am respectfully requesting that you support H.R.1558 (The Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Protection Act) and its companion legislation, S.838.  I am making this request because it has become obvious that anti-hunting and anti-fishing organizations (i.e. The Center for Biological Diversity and other similar organizations) are using lead to further their anti-hunting and anti-fishing agendas; this appears to be a blatant abuse of process.

•   Fishing with lead tackle and hunting with traditional ammunition poses no threat to human health.
•   There is no scientific evidence that current lead tackle or traditional lead ammunition use threatens fish or wildlife populations.
•   H.R. 1558 clarifies the original intent of the Congress.
•   A lead ban would be disastrous for fishermen, shooters, and hunters.
•   A lead ban would have adverse economic impact.
•   A lead ban would be a disaster for conservation.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

You should also email the EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson
( jackson.lisa@epa.gov )
to ask that the EPA again reject the petition recently submitted by The Center for Biological Diversity and two other anti-fishing groups, requesting that the agency regulate the manufacture and sale of lead fishing tackle of certain sizes and uses under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

Again: Here’s what you can write; just copy and paste, or write your own message; I’m just trying to make it as easy and quick as possible.

Dear Ms. Jackson,

It has come to my attention that The Center for Biological Diversity and two other groups have again submitted (November 16, 2011) a petition requesting that the EPA regulate the manufacture and sale of lead fishing tackle of certain sizes and uses under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).  I am respectfully requesting that the EPA again reject their petition.

•   A lead ban would be disastrous for fishermen, shooters, and hunters.
•   A lead ban would have adverse economic impact.
•   A lead ban would be a disaster for conservation.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Pass this on to other hunters and fishermen; this is a continuous political battle.  If we don’t push back, these radical groups will gradually destroy our hunting and fishing rights!
