This is a ridiculous plan, and there is no way it can be fair compensation. Lets say the rancher has a cow killed, and the state tells the rancher that he will be compensated $500 for his loss, that covers the lost of that cow, but what if it was a young cow that can produce calves for 10 years, and half of those new calves are heifers that would continue to produce for the rancher? He has lost way more than $500, if you take the lost production into account. This is a feel good measure, that will be broke in less than a year.  So nothing changes until there is new leadership in the state. Oregon and Washington, remember, keep voting Democrat, and  when nothing changes or gets worse you have nobody to blame but the guy looking back in the mirror.  :twocents:

These wolves are responsible for 20+ confirmed cow deaths.   Pretty crazy that the state has 4 packs and they cant control them....Washington wants 15!  Good luck!

Correction...washington wants 15 breeding pairs... the total number of packs (two or more wolves that travel together)is only counted as total packs (no set number) and  wolves total could reach 600-1000 by the time we verify 15 BP actually exist.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

there is no way shape or form the majority of hunters in this state will do one damn thing to change the current rule , and they will continue to purchase licenses, and there is no one organization that will change the will of the populace, when the state allows out of state testimony and opinions to be included we are screwed.
bearing in mind a lot of the non pro wolf groups are also headquartered out of state, so we want to only consider the groups we like, that only serve our interest's. another Fantasy.   The livestock producers are also a potent political allie, however the populace of this state wants wolves, and if the "state" compensates with the tax money, so be it. it is not our money , it belongs to the state.   If someones hunting dog is killed by a wolf, yes I would understand you wanting the "state" to compensate for the loss. Even though the dog was not your soul source of income for the year, those who feel that livestock operators should not be compensated with "state" dollars for "actual " livestock loss's are not welcome at my table.

Compensate every rancher in this state. Trying running a business raising animals yourself, if you don't like it, I bet your tune will change. Everybody else in this state is compensated that sure as hell doesn't deserve it and hasn't paid one cent into anything, ie: illegals to start with !

Remember boys, the only thing that you and I as hunters can do is practice the 3 S's.

Shoot
Shovel
Shutup

Thats how they handle it in Idaho and Montana.
