Welcome Bigdog2u!  I believe you are spot on.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Uhh, Bigdog2u's story does sound a bit more plausible on it's face. I tend to believe bigdog2u...

Curly, what is a blowgun used for? Didn't you order one of those Jivaro blow guns out of the back of Field and Stream magazine when you were a kid? Me and my buddy ordered a couple. Lots of fun with them....loved that thing!

As for what they are used for.... we used ours for all sorts of bad things kids do at that young age. What did you do with your bb gun?  :chuckle:

No, never noticed them in F&S.......... :dunno:  I can't see the purpose of them when a kid could use a pellet gun instead...........  (I just figured it out.  He was using a blow gun instead of a pellet gun because of the trespassing) I guess I'm a little slow this morning because of not getting much sleep. :P

As far as what I did with my bb gun.........I have to take the 5th on a public website. 8)
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Glad the cats dead..... If any of my neighbors saw a cat on my property I'd have no problem if they blasted it as long as it was safe to do so.....   :dunno:  And I will return the favor.... I guess my neihbors are a little different..... It was like world war 3 when two yotes ran past my son and I after they couldn't get in my coupe.... The neighbor free ranges and they ran up there he shot at one I yelled did you get it... He said no get the Fer.... From my side of the fence up his hillside..... Glock .40 shots burst out 3 yotes down..... The chicken and one peacock didn't make it though.... He came over later with a six pack to thank me...   :dunno:  He's not that great of a shot...   :chuckle:  I thought that how country folks rolled......

I'm not gonna get into a pissing match over this but I know the land owner and the manager of the alfalfa field/area where the cougar was killed...As for my post count, I've been lurking on here a few years but I've never really posted because of the hate I see towards some posts/people on this board...Guess I was right...My second post and I get called out for not having a high post count and basically called a liar...Believe me or not I don't care...The man trespassed(again) and shot a young cougar that was trying to run away from a dog...If you think it's alright to trespass because your dog chases something onto private property, well, that's your choice...Anyway, everybody stay safe and have a happy holidays :hello:

So are you going for your free 10 points for turning in the father?  Is the father being ticketed for trespassing?  Surely WDFW officers are not that stupid to not be able to read the kill scene for clues and know if it is on someone elses property..

But hell, I like asking hard questions...

I don't think that would be something they'd give 10 points for.

Would it not be poaching if the guy shot a cougar NOT in self defense but because he chased it down???  Especially if proven he was on private property that he had been told to stay off of???

I really don't care about the story.... another dead cat makes me happy.  I'm tired of seeing the kits grow and move farther and farther into town.

I believe the article said they hit the cat with the blowguns while it was attacking the dog. They must've been close.

Funny how much misinformation this story has...First, the cougar never chased the kids...The family dog chased the young cougar onto someone else's private property where the cougar jumped onto a old orchard tree brush pile...This same private property is an area where the father of the children has previously been told to leave and not come back when he was archery hunting...When this incident occurred, the father, children, and dogs entered the private property again without permission and the father shot the huge menacing cougar with a .22 pistol while it sat on top of the brush pile trying to get away from the dogs...Never was the property owner notified of what happened until hearing about it on the radio and finding boot tracks and a .22 casing near where the cougar was killed...I have zero problem with someone protecting the dogs and children, but this was handled very badly...Their dog chased the cougar onto someone else's property and then they trespassed to kill it without telling the property owners...Nobody was in immediate danger seeing as how it took to the father several minutes to drive from town(about 5 miles), get a gun, walk about 1 mile onto private property to shoot the cougar...This was just a case of an somebody wanting to shoot a cougar and not caring that they had to trespass to do it... :twocents:

I'd like to get this back on track a bit and resurrect the initial question:  Where did you get this information?

Were you present at the scene?

Upon whose property did they trespass?

The story, as I read it, says this family owns 50 acres and this appears to have gone down on their property. If that's not accurate, have you contacted the Wenatchee World?
