New Rig
« on: December 14, 2011, 10:47:46 AM »

I received my Nikkor 70-200mm Vr ii and TC20E iii yesterday and the combo is simply awesome. I will post some shots as soon as I am able, but the brightness, speed of focus and detail in the shots is hard to fathom. I have heard this is the best lens Nikon makes and I am starting to believe it.

LUCKY! Let me know how you like it. Ive had my eyes on one for awhile just haven't thought of a good enough excuse to buy one yet :chuckle: Might try the 80-400 first.

No bobcats yet... I had the 80-400, if your going to shoot birds or anything moving, it's not ideal, it has the old pin-focus system, which is very, very slow. The Sigma 80-400 is much faster focusing.

I was expecting to see some pics of a lifted 4x4 with mud tires and a big buck in the bed bleeding all over it to break it in.

Not sure if itst he best Nikon glass but it is a great combo!  You're coupling that to a D7000 correct?  All I can say is that you must have won the lottery maybe huh!  Look forward to seeing how it works for ya.

Actually I sold a couple older lenses to buy it, but yeah, most expensive glass I've bought. I should have said best glass for the $$, I'm sure the Nikkor 500 and 600mm VR lenses are phenomenal.

I haven't had that kind of luck since '07 (new truck and a nice buck). :chuckle:

If I keep buying camera gear I won't have a new truck anytime soon.

Looking forward to seeing photos of things in the wild..  I can't get out much this winter so a snapshot once in a while from you guys/gals with good photo equipment reminds me that our 'wilds' are still out there waiting for me.

Well I haven't had any decent light yet to work with yet, but I did manage a shot of a Warbler this week with the 70-200 and TC combo.
