question on tent size
« on: December 14, 2011, 01:02:06 PM »
We are looking at getting the alaknak tent, in either 12x12 or 12x20 however we are a little worried it might be hard to find spots big enough to fit it a camp grounds and in the mountians.  has this been a problem for anyone?

Go with the 12x20, you will always be happy you have the extra room.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

I've had the 12 x 12 (with vestibule) for 6 years and have never had a problem finding a spot anywhere.

How many will stay in it? A 12x12 with vesti is perfect for 3 hunters and gear. 4 is ok, more is a crowd.

couple reasons for the alaknak over the canvas tent.  weight is a big one, sewn in floor another my family is very bug shy, also like the idea of the vestible.  also it sounds like the material of the alaknak handles the wet conditions of washington better.

The vestibules are kind of nice for storage but have no floor and do not seal real well to the tent. They also come with no instructions so it can be an adventure getting them put on especially the first time. I highly suggest a "dry run" in the back yard first.
