Peaches Ridge
« on: July 15, 2008, 12:02:26 PM »
Hey guys i drew the Peaches Ridge archery tag this year and have some good ideas from some buddies, but wondered if you had any ideas that I shouldn't overlook.  I've got some good maps and great pack animals.  Drew it with the multiseason and probably wont hunt it again unless I ever get the multi again!  Figured I'd start driving there after I finish haying.  Thanks,  Matt

My buddy shot a 348 green class bull out of there last year and it was the smaller of the two that came in.  Could not get a clear shot on the larger bull.

He did not pack in but has spent a ton of time up there.  I think if you had access and sounds like  you do to some pack animals i would go in at Ravens roost.  If it were me i would be on a horse and scoping out the area.

I don't remember what the name of the trailhead is but it is just about 1 mile above "Hell's Crossing" and about a mile below pleasant valley on 410. We went up about six miles and we were in goats and elk every day. I had a Peaches permit last year and ended up with a 250" class 5X5. Great hunting area - Plenty of grass and water for the stock - steep ground, be in shape and you'll do well - good luck.
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

i also got drawn for peaches, i've hunted there before and i don't have pack animals but if i did i would go up around raven's roost. there's some big bulls up there and you'll get away from the other hunters as well. i'm still not sure where i'll hunt, but i'll probably stay up along the top.

Had the rifle tag there last year.  Be in shape and prepared for all sorts of weather!
There were several big bulls taken up high between Gold creek and Rock creek.  We didn't have animals to pack in, PM me if you have any questions.

LIke opportunist said, I drew it last year and I'm missing the chance to go back this year. If you have some one with you  doing the calling  as a team you should do good.I hunted both sides of little naches road and the left side seemed to produce the most action. Up towards ravens roost was good, but i ran into a nice 6x7 down along the river by lost medow. If you go up 1906 and take the first left follow it up for about a mile there was a jeep trail that ran down off the left side of the road, follow that trail for about a half mile then take a left off of that trail and drop down along the river it should put you into a big medow 200yrds x 600 yrds. I ran into 2 bulls there 5x5 and 6x7 that just did not want to play, If I had a rifle then that 6x7 would have been dumped.

Thanks guys keep it coming!  I'm picking up my maps from a friend and I'll start marking all of these spots.  Then the trips begin.  At least I only have to drive 2.5 hours instead of 7 to Dayton. ;)  Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it!
