I finally have my .06 down here and am planning on using it to kill a best in August in the high country. Killing the bear will be easy, getting the meat out will be the tough part! I'm not shooting anything over 200lbs back where I go in the olympics there would be no way to get it out in one trip.

I also have a couple of reprod sections in 454 that got hammered by bears last August and I am planning on hanging a stand and killing one with my bow.

I'm long overdue for Spring tag. That hunt along with several fall trips are on my agenda.

Machias, if you ever want someone to go along with you, I have snowmobiles and ATV's and willing to travel.  Let me know, I'd love to go chase some kittys or bears.

Rasbo, send me a copy of you avatar pic, that is awsome.
That's laugh out loud funny now. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Will be back home from Afghanistan for bear season this year (not in time for spring though).  My season got super-shortened last summer.  Did a bit of bear hunting and I left before deer season.  So, I read all your great posts and celebrated the hunts from afar!  By the way, I ordered my bear license and paid for a special hunt on-line.  There was no way to pick a special hunt (ghost hunt) on line, AND cougar was not combined with bear.  What gives?

I can't help you with your question, I don't buy WA bear or lion anymore and have never applied for a spring tag, but I wanted to say stay safe and get home quick as you can.  Thank you!!    :salute:

Will do, when do you have to leave?  You stay safe as well over there, I know you're going to a fairly safe area, but be careful just the same.

I'll be back in April for hopefully 3+ weeks. Focus is on turkey hunting and getting some stuff done around the property....no bear hunting. I'll have to try for another BBQ at the cabin. Maybe a longest beard contest.

I plan on killing my first bear....

Just as I have planned for the last 20 years ....  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

My plans are to fill my tag. I drew a spring tag and passed 3-4 bears and saw 18 if memory serves, many were first year cubs. Ended up coming home empty handed. I shattered my wrist a week before fall season so ended up eating my tag. I plan on hitting it hard in 2012
