crimson talon broad heads
« on: July 15, 2008, 03:15:39 PM »
I bought some of these crimson talon broad heads and I realy like them. They have a big cutting dia. for there wt. at 1.25" for the 90gr, and fly better then my field points when I paper tune. They hit the same spot as my field points out to 30 yards then they start to hit lower. I didnt know what to think of the bent blades but they seem to help in flight compared to my muzzy 3 blades.

I shoot thunderhead 100s about seven year old and I know I could get better groups with better broad heads. let us know how you like them after shooting a bunch. I have not seen those, are the sturdy looking?

There blades are on the thinner side at .024 but I have shot them though 1/2 plywood and to my supprise they are still shaped right. :dunno:  They group realy well out of my diamond black ice, I cant shot at the same spot or I will be buying new arrows . They seem to out penatrat every broad head I have too, when I shoot my black hole target the fletchs are touching the front of it (my arrows are 29" and the target is 20" thick). The target stops my field point and other broad heads so they are just sticking out when they stop.

Wow, half inch plywood and they held together?  I had heard the blades were weak, but thats a pretty good test of durability.  Personally I switched to Sonic broadheads from Thunderheads a couple years ago, and they fly and shoot tremendously well.  Somewhat small on the cutting diameter at 1", but a couple dead deer and elk in 2 years haven't seemed to notice that the cutting diameter was small.  Let us know how the Crimson Talons perform on game.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I have not tried it.  It looks similar to the MX-3.  I have shot the MX-3 and they are good heads.  However, I use Slick Trick for elk and keep the MX-3 as back up.

The tips on them look like the same thing as the mx-3. It doest matter how much plywood it can shoot though and not be damaged, its how well they do on game. I hope to find out during elk season.
