SBE firing pin/spring question

I have a SBE (not II) that I've prob put 3k rounds through.  Recently I've had 3 rounds misfire, 2 of which left the wad horribly lodged in the barrel.  I called my ammo manufacture and they are replacing my case and want the remaining ammo returned for testing, but they were intent ("95% sure") on the fact that it was my firing pin and/or spring.  They said that Benelli's are notorious for that.  Anyone ever hear of that, or have a similar issue???

Just curious but why would a firing pin have anything to do with wads being lodged in a barrel. To me that sounds more of a problem with the load, but I really don't know.

I completely agree with goosegetter79. THE ISSUE IS WITH THE LOAD. If the primer went off then the gun was working perfectly. The problem the manufacturer was probably talking about was the "benelli click". This has everything to do with how the bolt is seated. The locking head of the bolt didn't lock into place, this would cause the load not to fire, but the load did fire so you didnt experience the benelli click.

 have the same gun as you SBE (not the II)I ordered new in 03 left handed. I have shot about 6k rounds, give or take. I have never replaced one part on it. Plus, I have never had one problem with it, wet, cold, snow etc. I just make sure to clean it really good after hunting or trap shooting. Especially cleaning the bolt and keeping the firin pin area lubed.
I also reload a lot too. I think in your case there is problem with the load, like the wad in the hull may have been stuck a little or the powder load was insufficient or the primer was damp. You are lucky you didn't run another round through it, I saw two barrels once blow completly apart next to me, it was bad really bad.

What load was it? and Company?

THats a problem with the load. It doesnt matter how hard the pin hits the primer as long as it is enough to fire the shell.

Hevi-Metal.  I've been shooting that exclusively the past 2+ years, never had a prob until this case.  They are overnighting me a full case, and are paying for the return of my current case returned for testing.  Customer service was great, super fast, no holding.

Un-ignited powder, unexpanded wad, once wad was removed.   Zero chance for moisture related issues: stored indoors, new box that never been seen the blind.

That is damp powder.  You have a moisture issue with the ammo.  Not firing pin or spring.

If the primer went off, lodging the wad in the barrel, the problem was w/the powder. Maybe wet etc but not the firing pin's problem.
