Got my Blacktail Mount Back today :)
« on: December 17, 2011, 11:47:51 PM »
I am so excited to get my blacktail mount back from last years hunt.  I took him to Cedar River Taxidermy last year and he did a wonderful job on capturing exactly how i remember the deer looking at me as i made the kill shot. This deer was a scrapper as he had both ears split and scarred and other battle wounds on his face and neck. My wife and daughter are almost more excited than i am to have him on the wall  :)

That's an awesome mount  I love those ear splits. I once found where I'm assuming to blackies were fighting, the ground was tore up in a spot about 10x20 with hair everywhere, wouldve been a heck of a fight to see I bet

Nice! Always exciting getting them up on the wall. Now if that is a working fireplace below him, move him to a safer place.

Very nice mount. Good thing you don't use that stove and damage that fine mount.

I just can't stop looking at him and my daughter is very excited to get her first one on the wall as well.  It's amazing what these taxidermists can do to bring these animals back to life again.  I admire the work that goes into these works of art.  Thank you guys for all your nice comments on my first deer and first mount.  Everyone have a wonderful Christmas.

Awesome buck and nice mount, congrats  when I was looking at the pics and before reading other comments I was thinking the same about the fireplace.  Sounds like you dont use it, but I do know people that has had smoke damage on their mounts.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Thank you for the heads up on the fireplace.  We don't use the fireplace but I still let my wife know not to use it just in case she gets a wild hair to start a fire  :chuckle:
